Senegal internationals Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr have each been handed two-match suspensions following disciplinary breaches during the CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2025 final.

The sanctions were imposed by the CAF Disciplinary Board after it reviewed incidents from the heated final that officials say violated the provisions of the CAF Disciplinary Code.

According to CAF, both players were found guilty of unsporting behaviour towards the match referee during the final and will miss two official CAF matches as a result.

The ruling forms part of a wider set of disciplinary measures announced by the continental football body against the Senegalese and Moroccan football federations, as well as several players and officials involved in the match.

Beyond the player suspensions, Senegal head coach Pape Bouna Thiaw received a five-match ban from all official CAF competitions for unsporting conduct that CAF said violated principles of fair play and integrity and brought the game into disrepute. He was also fined USD 100,000.

The Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF) was further hit with multiple financial penalties. CAF imposed a USD 300,000 fine for the improper conduct of Senegalese supporters during the final. An additional USD 300,000 fine was imposed for unsporting behaviour by the team’s players and technical staff.

FSF was also fined USD 15,000 after five Senegal players received cautions during the match.

CAF also announced disciplinary measures against the host nation, Morocco. National team defender Achraf Hakimi was suspended for two official CAF matches, including one for a one-year probationary period.

Midfielder Ismaël Saibari received a three-match suspension and a USD 100,000 fine for unsporting behaviour.

The Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) was fined USD 200,000 over the inappropriate conduct of stadium ball boys during the final. CAF further imposed a USD 100,000 fine for the improper behaviour of Moroccan players and technical officials who invaded the VAR review area and obstructed the referee’s work.

An additional USD 15,000 fine was imposed on the Moroccan FA for supporters’ use of lasers inside the stadium.

CAF also rejected a formal protest lodged by the Moroccan FA, which alleged that Senegal violated Articles 82 and 84 of the Africa Cup of Nations regulations. The Disciplinary Board ruled that the protest lacked merit.

The sanctions bring a decisive close to one of the most controversial finals in recent AFCON history, following intense post-match scenes that drew widespread scrutiny across the continent.
