Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has issued a warning to Heart of Lions ahead of their Ghana Premier League Week 21 clash at Kpando Stadium on Saturday, January 31, at 3:30 GMT.
Kotoko travel to the fixture on the back of a 3-0 win over Holy Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium, with strikers Albert Amoah, Kwame Opoku, and Guinean import Morifing Donzo in fine form. Zito emphasized the importance of focusing on the present, saying the team’s mindset is to play positively and secure victory regardless of past challenges.
“We have to forget about the past and think about the present because in football anything can happen. We are going in to play a game and come out with a nice performance and a win,” Zito told Kotoko TV.
Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford acknowledged the strength of Kotoko, describing the match as a tough test. Despite the club’s struggles—winning just once in their last ten matches—Hayford is confident his side can prepare well and secure a positive result.
Currently, Kotoko sit third on the league table with 35 points, level with Aduana FC and Hearts of Oak, while Heart of Lions are in seventh with 27 points after 20 games. The clash promises to be a key encounter as both teams aim to assert themselves in the second round of the season.
