Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank has revealed that the club made an all-out effort to sign Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo before his move Man City.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference before Tottenham’s meeting with Manchester City, Frank stressed that the club remain active in the market and are backed by ownership determined to support squad improvement.

Semenyo, who joined City earlier this month, has made an immediate impression with three goals and an assist in his first four outings.

Frank acknowledged that Tottenham identified the attacker as a priority target, confirming that significant resources were committed in an attempt to secure his signature.

While the move ultimately did not materialise, the head coach framed the pursuit as evidence of ambition rather than a setback.

According to Frank, the willingness to chase a deal of that scale reflects strong backing from the Lewis family, whom he described as fully invested in raising the team’s level.

“It’s clear the club wanted to sign Semenyo,” Frank said. “They did everything. I think that’s a clear signal that the Lewis family is very committed. That’s a big signing with the finances and all that. That’s the quality of players we are looking for to improve the squad.”

The urgency in the transfer market has been sharpened by a growing injury list. Tottenham are currently without several key figures, including Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Bergvall, Richarlison, Pedro Porro, Ben Davies and Rodrigo Bentancur, all sidelined by January injuries expected to keep them out for at least a month.
