‘Losing here hurts’ – Ibrahim Tanko after Medeama fall to Nations FC

Medeama Sporting Club head coach Ibrahim Tanko has described his team’s 2-1 defeat to Nations FC in the Ghana Premier League as a deeply painful setback.

The Mauve and Yellow went into Friday’s Matchday 21 fixture riding an impressive 17-game unbeaten streak, but saw that run come to an end at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

Medeama made a bright start to the contest, taking the lead in the ninth minute through Kingsley Braye. However, Nations FC responded strongly, with captain Razak Simpson netting twice before halftime to turn the game around and secure all three points for the hosts.

Reacting after the match, Tanko admitted the loss was difficult to accept, even though he was satisfied with his players’ overall display.

“After scoring first, we allowed them to win too many second balls, and the pressure became too much,” Tanko said. “Losing here is very painful.”

He added: “Sometimes you do everything right and still concede. We didn’t play badly, but we lost 2-1. Now we have to prepare well and focus on the next game.”

Despite the setback, Medeama remain top of the Ghana Premier League table with 43 points, as they look to quickly recover and continue their title push in the coming fixtures.
