FC Petrolul have completed the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Bismark Adjei-Boateng, commonly known as Nana Boateng, on a contract running for one and a half seasons.

The 31-year-old returns to Romania’s Superliga after a spell in South Korea with Jeonbuk Hyundai. Boateng previously played a key role at CFR Cluj, where he became Romanian champion in 2022.

Born in Accra, Ghana, Boateng developed in the academy of Manchester City, staying under contract with the English club until early 2017. During that time, he gained experience on several continents, representing Strømsgodset in Norway, Colorado in the United States, and KuPS in Finland.

His honours list is impressive: in addition to the Romanian title with CFR, he has a league championship in Norway, a league-and-cup double in South Korea, and the Finnish Cup.

With his arrival, FC Petrolul strengthen their midfield with an experienced, versatile player familiar with Romanian football and European competitions. The club welcomes him with the message that also titles the announcement: Bun venit, Nana Boateng!
