Abdul Karim Zito, head coach of Asante Kotoko, has expressed surprise following his side’s 3–1 defeat to Heart of Lions, despite insisting the team had thoroughly prepared ahead of the encounter.
The Kotoko trainer explained that the final outcome was unexpected, especially considering the work done in training. He noted that the team had focused intensely on defending set pieces, an area he believed they had adequately addressed before the match.
According to Zito, the preparation made the margin of defeat difficult to understand, as the technical team had taken specific steps to neutralize the threats that eventually proved costly.
The result has added to Kotoko’s recent struggles, as the Porcupine Warriors look to regroup and correct their shortcomings ahead of upcoming fixtures.
