Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has made his ambitions for the season crystal clear, insisting that winning either the Ghana Premier League or the MTN FA Cup remains his top priority despite recent setbacks.
Zito’s comments follow Kotoko’s 3–1 defeat to Heart of Lions last Saturday at the Kpando Sports Stadium in Matchday 21 of the Ghana Premier League—a result that has increased pressure on the Porcupine Warriors as the season reaches a decisive phase.
The former Black Satellites coach maintained that the loss has not derailed his targets, stressing that Kotoko are still very much in the hunt for silverware on two fronts. According to Zito, the key now is total focus and hard work, especially with a crucial cup assignment on the horizon.
“Definitely, we have to win that game against Aduana FC. We don’t have any excuse because my main objective is to win the league or the FA Cup—or even the double. So I have to work hard because we cannot afford to lose to Aduana,” he said.
Zito emphasized that the upcoming clash against Aduana FC must be approached with maximum concentration, describing it as a defining moment in Kotoko’s season. He challenged his players to respond positively and show character after the disappointment in Kpando.
Asante Kotoko will host their regional rivals at the Baba Yara Stadium this weekend in what promises to be a fiercely contested encounter. With pride, progression, and silverware at stake, the Porcupine Warriors will be eager to bounce back strongly and reaffirm their credentials as serious contenders in both the league and the FA Cup.
