Former Ghana U23 forward Samuel Obeng Gyabaah climbed off the bench to score but could not prevent Albacete from falling 2-1 away to Deportivo La Coruna in LaLiga2.
Introduced on 58 minutes, Obeng needed just six minutes to make his mark, finishing calmly from a Fran Gámez assist to halve the deficit on 64 minutes and give the visitors real hope.
Deportivo had earlier seized control through Yeremay Hernández’s opener midway through the first half, before a Javi Villar own goal in stoppage time made it 2–0 at the break.
Albacete responded after the interval, pushed higher up the pitch and created the better chances, ending with 16 shots and four big opportunities but lacking the final touch to rescue a point. Obeng’s impact underlined his growing importance, with the 28-year-old now on 11 league appearances, 1 goal and 0 assists in the 2025/26 LaLiga2 campaign.
Despite the defeat, Albacete remain firmly in the promotion race and will look to bounce back quickly when they host Sporting Gijón in their next league fixture on Sunday, 15 February.
