English-born Ghanaian forward Charles Sagoe Jr has joined Swedish side Kalmar FF on loan until January 2027, his parent club Arsenal have confirmed.
The 21-year-old joined Arsenal academy from Fulham in July 2015 and went on to sign his first professional contract in July 2022.
Charles has made a strong start to the season with 14 appearances for our under-21 side in both the Premier League 2 and Vertu Trophy, scoring five goals and assisting seven times.
“It feels great to be here and I am really excited to get started, start training and get to know my new teammates. I am looking forward to showing my qualities on the pitch and helping to win matches,” Sajoe said.
This is a good step for me and my continued career. After the conversations with the sports director and the management staff, I got a strong feeling that this was the right environment for me. Now I want to take advantage of the opportunity and help the team achieve good results in Allsvenskan.”
The versatile forward, capable of playing in midfield, was rewarded for his performances when he was named as a substitute in our 3-0 win away to Slavia Prague in the Champions League back in November 2025.
Following Charles’ first team debut for us in September 2023 against Brentford in the Carabao Cup, he spent valuable time on loan with both Swansea City in the Championship and in League One with Shrewsbury Town last season.
“We wish Charles all the best for his loan spell with Kalmar FF, who are newly promoted into the Swedish top-flight, and look forward to seeing his continued development,” said the club.
Sagoe’s loan deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
