German Bundesliga club Hamburger SV are reportedly tracking German-born Ghanaian defender Maxwell Gyamfi as they prepare to strengthen their squad ahead of the next transfer window.
According to reports from German media, the top-flight side are considering a move for the centre-back, who currently plays for 2. Bundesliga outfit FC Kaiserslautern. Gyamfi joined the Fritz-Walter-Stadion side in the summer of 2025 and has since established himself as a reliable figure in defence.
The former Borussia Dortmund youth player has enjoyed a solid campaign, featuring in 21 matches across all competitions this season and earning praise for his consistency and composure at the back.
Hamburger SV are said to be exploring defensive options as uncertainty surrounds the future of Croatian youngster Luka Vuskovic, who is on loan from Tottenham Hotspur. Should they fail to secure his services on a permanent basis, Gyamfi has emerged as a strong candidate to fill that role.
A move to the Bundesliga would represent a major step forward for Gyamfi, who is believed to be keen on testing himself at the highest level of German football if the opportunity arises.
Despite being born in Germany, the defender remains eligible to represent Ghana internationally, as he has yet to make a senior appearance for the German national team.
