Auxerre midfielder Elisha Owusu has called for focus and resilience as the Ligue 1 side fights to climb out of the relegation zone. Speaking to Flashscore, he stressed that survival will depend on the team’s ability to stay sharp and disciplined, especially in critical moments.
“This season has been inconsistent,” Owusu admitted. “We play well for long spells, but late lapses, like the one against PSG, have cost us. Football is more than ninety minutes—you must stay focused until the final whistle.”
The Ghanaian highlighted the youthful nature of the squad as a factor in these struggles, but also pointed to recent signs of improvement. A confident performance at Toulouse FC showed the squad’s ability to execute the coach’s plan, maintain intensity, and play with a clear mindset. The momentum carried into a 3-1 win over fellow strugglers FC Metz, boosting both points and confidence.
Owusu concluded: “Confidence is key. When you perform well and see results, it gives the team belief and something to build on as we push to stay in Ligue 1.”
