Kocaelispor forward Dan Agyei has declared his readiness to represent Ghana, expressing hope that his long-standing willingness to play for the Black Stars will finally be rewarded with an invitation.

The 27-year-old former Leyton Orient striker, who qualifies for Ghana through his heritage, revealed that he has kept the door open since initial discussions with Ghanaian football officials back in 2018.

“It would be an honour to represent my country, Ghana. I’m a proud Ghanaian and grew up watching the Black Stars,” Agyei told Sportsworldghana.com in an exclusive interview.

“Ever since I spoke with former management back in 2018, I’ve been open and ready to play. I’ve always been keen to contribute, and if the opportunity comes and I am called upon, I’d give everything for the shirt.”

Agyei has been plying his trade in Turkey with Kocaelispor, recording four goals in 21 league appearances this season. His journey took him to the Super Lig in June 2025 after he turned down a new contract at Leyton Orient to sign a two-year deal with the Turkish side.

The timing of his declaration is significant, with Ghana set to face Austria and Germany in high-profile international friendlies this month as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Black Stars will open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, before taking on England in Boston on June 23 and Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.

For Agyei, the message to head coach Otto Addo is clear: he is available, he is committed, and he is ready to give everything for the shirt.
