Former England international Micah Richards has praised the impressive form of Antoine Semenyo at Manchester City, expressing confidence that the Ghanaian forward has firmly established himself at the highest level.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Richards highlighted Semenyo’s smooth adaptation to Pep Guardiola’s system, noting that while many players require time to settle at a new club, the 24-year-old has quickly shown his worth.
“He’s just got that true quality,” Richards said. “He brings the pace, the power, and the football intelligence to do what Pep wants.”
Thriving in a Star-Studded Squad
Semenyo’s performances have stood out despite sharing the dressing room with elite talents such as Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, and Tijjani Reijnders. Richards believes making an impact in such a competitive environment underlines the forward’s ability and mental strength.
Beyond his attacking contributions, Semenyo has also impressed with his willingness to track back and operate in unfamiliar defensive positions — a quality Richards described as “absolutely fantastic.”
Proving the Doubters Wrong
Questions had been raised about whether Semenyo could perform consistently at the elite level, but Richards insists those doubts have now been answered.
“The question mark was whether he could do it at this level — and he definitely can,” he added, before concluding: “Long may it continue.”
The latest strike takes the 24-year-old’s tally to 14 goals and four assists in 27 Premier League appearances this season. He will be aiming to extend that fine run when City welcome Nottingham Forest to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.
