Italian-Ghanaian midfielder Samuel Wiafe made his senior debut for Modena FC in their 2–1 defeat to Virtus Entella in the Serie B.
The talented youngster was handed his first start for the senior team, achieving the milestone at the age of 17 years, eight months, and nine days. His appearance marked an important step in his early professional career as he transitions from youth football into the senior game.
Despite the defeat, Wiafe’s inclusion in the starting lineup reflects the growing confidence the Modena technical team has in his abilities. The versatile midfielder, who can operate as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder, or second striker, showed promise during his time on the pitch.
Before his senior debut, Wiafe had been making strong progress with the club’s youth side in the Campionato Primavera 2. Playing for Modena’s under-19 team, he recorded an impressive seven goals in 18 appearances, a performance that helped him earn promotion to the first team.
His rapid development has not gone unnoticed at the international level. The young midfielder has previously represented the Italy national under-17 football team, where he managed to score once during the qualification stages of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship.
Although he has featured for Italy at youth level, Wiafe remains eligible to represent the Ghana national football team in the future due to his Ghanaian heritage.
With his technical ability, versatility, and eye for goal, Samuel Wiafe is regarded as one of the emerging young talents to watch. His Serie B debut for Modena could be the beginning of a promising professional journey as he continues to develop his game in Italian football.
