Former Asante Kotoko coach Karim Zito has reflected on his time with the club, emphasizing the importance of patience and understanding when managing players.
Speaking after winning four trophies in just 43 days with Kotoko, Zito said, “Winning four cups in just 43 days is not an easy task. At the end of the day, I consider myself very, very successful with Kotoko. It wasn’t easy, but we made it happen.”
He explained the challenge of guiding a large squad, noting, “Sometimes, we need to be patient with coaches because we are working with human beings, each with different attitudes, levels of intelligence, and endurance. We had about 30 players, and the challenge was to synchronize them into one cohesive unit. It’s not about the days; it’s not even about a month.”
Offering a note of realism, Zito added, “If you don’t make peace with reality, you’ll never truly grasp what I’m saying. So, let’s leave it there.”
Now focused on his new role as head coach of FC AshGold 04, Zito faces the task of guiding the Division One side to promotion while continuing to build his reputation as one of Ghana’s most accomplished coaches.
