Ghana youngster Caleb Yirenkyi delivered an outstanding display for FC Nordsjaelland in their 1-1 draw against AGF Aarhus in the Danish SuperLiga on Thursday, underlining his growing importance to the side.

The 20-year-old midfielder was deployed in an unusual centre-back role but adapted seamlessly, producing a composed and intelligent performance throughout the contest.

Yirenkyi capped his impressive outing with a crucial assist in the 83rd minute, helping his team salvage a point late in the game.

AGF had taken the lead in the 31st minute through Patrick Mortensen, who finished calmly after being set up by Sebastian Jorgensen.

The visitors looked on course for all three points before Nordsjaelland mounted late pressure.

Their persistence paid off when Yirenkyi showcased his vision and technical quality, setting up Ivorian youngster Levy Nene to score the equaliser seven minutes from time.

Yirenkyi’s ability to excel in multiple positions continues to highlight his versatility, a trait that could prove valuable for Ghana’s Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

His maturity, defensive awareness, and composure on the ball stood out, earning him the Man of the Match accolade.

Fellow Ghanaian Prince Amoako also featured prominently, playing the full duration of the match as Nordsjaelland secured a hard-fought point at home.

Yirenkyi has made 30 appearances across all competitions for Nordsjaelland this season, scoring twice and delivering six assists in the process.
