Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over Nations FC at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors took control early, and in the 23rd minute, Albert Amoah rose above the defense to head home the opening goal.
Despite recent inconsistent results, Kotoko showed improved attacking play and composure under pressure. In the 80th minute, Baba was fouled in the box, and captain Samba O’Neil converted the penalty to make it 2-0.
Deep into stoppage time, Morifing Donzo scored from another penalty after being brought down, sealing the comprehensive win.
The result lifts Kotoko into third place, four points behind the league leaders, keeping their title hopes alive with eight matches remaining. Nations FC dropped to 11th place. Kotoko will next visit Aduana FC, while Nations FC host Berekum Chelsea.
