Italian-Ghanaian defender Mike Aidoo delivered a decisive late moment to inspire Pergolettese to a dramatic 2-1 victory over Aurora Pro Patria in Serie C Group A.
Introduced in the 71st minute, Aidoo made an instant impact when it mattered most, rising to score a stoppage-time winner deep into added time.
Pergolettese had earlier taken control of the contest in the 27th minute through Samuele Careccia, who calmly finished to give the hosts the lead. They held onto that advantage for much of the game, only to suffer a late setback when Giorgio Citterio equalised in the 89th minute for Pro Patria, seemingly rescuing a point for the visitors.
However, Pergolettese showed resilience and determination, pushing forward in search of a winner. Their persistence paid off in the 90th+2 minute when Aidoo found space in the box and converted the decisive goal, sparking jubilant celebrations among the home fans.
The victory lifts Pergolettese to 17th place in the standings and provides a crucial boost in their fight to climb away from the relegation zone.
Attention now turns to their next fixture against AlbinoLeffe, where they will aim to build on this momentum in another vital encounter.
