Bibiani Gold Stars assistant coach Ernest Okyere has praised his players despite their 2-0 defeat to Medeama SC in their Ghana Premier League Week 31 clash at the TnA Stadium.

A brace from Salim Adams proved decisive as Medeama strengthened their position in the title race, but Okyere insisted his side showed positive signs despite the result.

Speaking after the match, he urged his players to take lessons from the defeat while highlighting the progress made by the team.

“Football is a 90-minute game, and whatever comes out of it you need to accept and learn from it. Nothing went badly. My players proved we have revamped the team, and that impressed me a lot,” he said.

Despite the setback, Okyere remains confident that Gold Stars can still challenge for the league title with four matches remaining in the season.

“The league is not over. We have four matches to go. They are five points ahead of us. There are 12 points in the four remaining matches. It means it’s not over until it’s over. We need to go back, and on Wednesday, we need to make amends and close the gap,” he added.

Gold Stars now turn their attention to a crucial fixture against FC Samartex at Duns Park as the title race continues to intensify.
