Newly appointed Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has unveiled his maiden 23-man squad ahead of the Black Stars’ upcoming international friendly against Mexico later this month.
The squad reflects a balanced mix of locally based talents, emerging U23 prospects, and experienced returnees, signaling a fresh yet competitive direction for the national team. Among the notable inclusions is striker Felix Afena-Gyan, who currently plays for Amedspor, marking his return to the national setup.
Also making a comeback are midfielders Majeed Ashimeru and Razak Simpson, alongside winger Ibrahim Osman of Birmingham City.
Ashimeru, who features for RAAL La Louviere, returns after an extended injury spell that kept him out of action for both club and country. Meanwhile, Afena-Gyan’s last appearance for Ghana dates back to May last year, when he played against Trinidad and Tobago during the Unity Cup in London.
Queiroz has also handed opportunities to several promising young players and Europe-based talents. These include Abdul Aziz Issah of Barcelona B, Ebenezer Annan from AS Saint-Étienne, and Paul Reverson of Ajax.
On the domestic front, Salim Adams of Medeama SC headlines the home-based contingent. He is joined by Ebenezer Abban of Heart of Lions, Ebenezer Adade from Dreams FC, and Nations FC captain Razak Simpson.
Ghana is scheduled to depart for Mexico on Friday, May 22, 2026, as preparations intensify for the international fixture.
