Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has insisted his side must remain fully focused and avoid complacency as they edge closer to potentially securing the Ghana Premier League title.
Despite sitting top of the table, Tanko stressed that nothing has been achieved yet and warned his players that the decisive stage of the season demands maximum discipline and concentration.
Speaking ahead of their upcoming fixture against Heart of Lions FC, the Medeama coach revealed that constant communication with his squad has been crucial in maintaining focus and discipline within the camp.
He also cautioned that home advantage should not lead to complacency, urging his players to approach every match with the same seriousness regardless of venue or opposition.
“We have to have a lot of conversations with the players. We are still leading the table, but I don’t think we should feel comfortable because we are playing at home. We have to prepare well, like any other game,” he told Medi TV.
Tanko further highlighted the importance of securing all three points in the upcoming fixture, noting that a victory would significantly boost their chances of lifting the league title.
He believes a win could push Medeama very close to mathematical confirmation of the championship before the final matchday.
“We want to win this game so that our chances will be almost 90% before the last game. So definitely we are going to work hard for this game,” he added.
The Week 33 encounter between Medeama SC and Heart of Lions is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, with kick-off set for 3:00 pm at the TnA Stadium.
