Roger De Sa has described Carlos Queiroz as a highly collaborative and open-minded tactician, praising his willingness to engage with his technical team as the Ghana national football team step up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking on the Beyond The Whistle podcast, the Black Stars assistant coach highlighted Queiroz’s leadership style, stressing that the experienced manager values input from his staff while still maintaining final authority on decisions.
“Carlos listens. He doesn’t have to take every opinion, but he welcomes different views,” De Sa noted, emphasizing the inclusive atmosphere within Ghana’s technical setup.
Queiroz, who recently assumed charge of the Black Stars on a short-term arrangement following Otto Addo’s exit in March, brings a wealth of international experience to the role, having previously managed national teams such as Iran, Colombia, Egypt, and Oman.
His appointment comes at a crucial period as Ghana intensifies preparations for their fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Under his leadership, the Black Stars are undergoing a structured build-up process aimed at improving tactical discipline, squad balance, and overall competitiveness ahead of the tournament.
Ghana’s preparation schedule has included international friendlies as the technical team continues to assess players and refine combinations. Despite a recent 2-0 defeat to Mexico in a friendly, the focus remains firmly on long-term improvement and readiness for the global stage.
The Black Stars have been drawn in a challenging Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. They begin their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, before facing England on June 23 in Boston, and concluding their group stage fixtures against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.
Before the tournament kicks off, Ghana will also face Wales in a final warm-up match on June 2 at the Cardiff City Stadium.
With expectations rising back home, De Sa’s comments reinforce the idea of a united and communicative technical team working together to guide Ghana into a competitive World Cup campaign.
