Asante Kotoko have opened negotiations with newly promoted Ghana Premier League side Debibi United over the possible signing of highly-rated striker Kwadwo Antwi ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The Porcupine Warriors are looking to strengthen their attacking options and have identified the 22-year-old forward as one of their priority transfer targets following his outstanding campaign in the Access Bank Division One League.
According to sports journalist Shaban Mohammed, discussions between the two clubs are already underway as Kotoko seek to reach an agreement for the prolific striker.
Antwi enjoyed a breakthrough season with Debibi United, finishing as one of the division’s most lethal forwards after scoring 17 goals to spearhead the club’s historic promotion to the Ghana Premier League.
His defining moment came in the Zone One promotional playoff final, where he produced a brilliant hat-trick to secure Debibi United’s place in the top flight for the first time in the club’s history.
The striker’s impressive performances have attracted widespread interest from several Ghana Premier League clubs, with Kotoko now making a serious move to secure his signature.
However, completing the deal is expected to prove challenging.
Debibi United have previously maintained that Antwi is not for sale, with the club eager to retain one of their most influential players as they prepare for their maiden campaign in the Ghana Premier League.
Kotoko are also expected to face stiff competition from rivals Hearts of Oak, who have reportedly expressed strong interest in the in-form attacker as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
Negotiations between Kotoko and Debibi United are expected to continue in the coming days as the Kumasi giants attempt to convince the newly promoted side to part ways with one of the country’s most exciting young forwards.
