Finnish top-flight side FC Inter Turku have completed the signing of England-born Ghanaian defender Yeboah Amankwah ahead of the second half of the 2026 Veikkausliiga season.
The 25-year-old has joined Inter Turku on a deal running until the end of the campaign, with the club holding an option to extend his contract for an additional two years.
Amankwah arrives after a short spell with fellow Veikkausliiga outfit IFK Mariehamn, where he made 12 appearances during the first part of the season.
Inter Turku’s head of player scouting Viki Savonen believes the defender’s physical qualities, speed and versatility will make him an important addition to the squad.
“Yeboah is an exceptional player for the Veikkausliiga. He is a big, but extremely fast and very aggressive defender, who is also born with various ball skills,” Savonen said.
“He has not yet been able to play to his full potential in Finland, but we believe he will suit our style of play brilliantly. In addition to playing as a central defender, he can also play as a winger, so he will bring us much-needed width in the middle of a busy match.”
Born in London to Ghanaian parents, Amankwah began his football journey at Manchester City’s academy, progressing through the club’s youth ranks before moving to Belgium in 2025 to join Lommel SK.
The versatile defender later moved to Finland and has continued to gain valuable experience in the Veikkausliiga.
At Inter Turku, he will link up with fellow Ghanaian players Prosper Ahiabu and Bismark Ampofo as the club competes domestically and in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers.
Inter Turku are aiming to secure a place in the league phase of the European competition, with Amankwah expected to provide defensive strength and versatility during their campaign.
