Ghanaian midfielder Seedorf Asante has completed a move to newly promoted Ivorian top-flight club Yamoussoukro FC, becoming the latest addition to the club’s ambitious squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Although the transfer was officially announced on Wednesday, July 29, Asante had already been training with the club for several weeks as part of their pre-season preparations.
The former Heart of Lions midfielder featured for Yamoussoukro FC in a high-profile international friendly against French Ligue 1 giants Olympique Marseille earlier this month, where the Ivorian outfit suffered a 3-0 defeat.
The move marks Asante’s first venture outside Ghana after establishing himself in the Ghana Premier League. The energetic midfielder previously represented Heart of Lions, where he became a key figure in midfield, having earlier developed through the ranks at Liberty Professionals, one of Ghana’s most renowned talent-producing clubs.
A graduate of Liberty Professionals’ respected football development programme, Asante is known for his composure on the ball, passing range, work rate and ability to dictate play from midfield.
Yamoussoukro FC have adopted an ambitious recruitment strategy ahead of their maiden campaign in the Ivorian Ligue 1, targeting experienced foreign talent to strengthen the squad, with Asante viewed as an important addition to their midfield.
The Ghanaian will now be aiming to make an immediate impact as Yamoussoukro FC look to establish themselves among Côte d’Ivoire’s elite clubs.
