Black Stars striker Inaki Williams was on target in Athletic Club’s convincing 3-0 pre-season victory over Burgos.
The Ghana international produced an impressive performance as Ernesto Valverde’s side continued their preparations for the new season with another dominant display.
Williams looked lively from the opening whistle, using his pace and intelligent movement to stretch the Burgos defence. His constant runs behind the backline created space for his teammates and kept the opposition under pressure throughout his time on the pitch.
His reward came when he calmly finished off a well-worked attacking move to score his first goal of pre-season, giving Athletic further control of the contest as they cruised to a comfortable victory.

The 31-year-old’s goal will come as a timely confidence boost ahead of the new La Liga season, where he is expected to once again play a leading role in Athletic Club’s attack.
Williams has been one of Athletic Club’s most reliable performers in recent years. During the 2025/26 season, he made over 40 appearances across all competitions, contributing double-digit goals while also providing several assists as the Basque side secured European football.
Since making his senior debut in 2014, the Black Stars forward has amassed more than 500 appearances for Athletic Club, scoring well over 100 goals and establishing himself as one of the club’s modern-day legends.
With his first goal of the new campaign now secured, Williams will be aiming to build momentum during pre-season before leading Athletic Club’s attack when the 2026/27 competitive season gets underway.
