Swedru All Blacks left-back Abdul Aziz has made it clear that his preferred destination is Hearts of Oak, despite receiving serious interest from Medeama SC during the ongoing transfer window.
The highly-rated 27-year-old has emerged as one of the Ghana Premier League’s most sought-after defenders following an outstanding 2025/26 campaign, where he played a crucial role in helping Swedru All Blacks retain their top-flight status.
Aziz featured in 27 league matches last season, consistently impressing with his defensive solidity, tireless work rate, attacking support down the left flank, and ability to deliver quality crosses into the penalty area. His performances have attracted the attention of several top clubs, but Hearts of Oak and Medeama have emerged as the leading contenders for his signature.
Sources close to the player have revealed that Aziz has prioritised a move to Hearts of Oak, believing the Accra giants offer the ideal platform for the next stage of his career. The defender is understood to be attracted by the club’s rich history, passionate fan base, and ambition to challenge for major honours after narrowly missing out on the league title last season.
Hearts of Oak have already opened formal negotiations with Swedru All Blacks and remain confident of reaching an agreement. Club officials have identified Aziz as one of their priority transfer targets as they continue strengthening the squad ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League campaign.
Although Medeama SC have expressed strong interest and are keen to bring the defender to Tarkwa, the player is reportedly focused on completing a move to the Phobians. The reigning Ghana Premier League champions are looking to reinforce their squad ahead of both their domestic campaign and CAF Champions League commitments, but convincing Aziz to change his preferred destination could prove difficult.
Swedru All Blacks are understood to be open to selling the defender should an acceptable offer arrive, with discussions expected to continue between the clubs in the coming days. While no final agreement has been reached, negotiations are progressing positively.
Hearts of Oak view Aziz as a player capable of immediately strengthening the left side of their defence. His experience in the Ghana Premier League, defensive discipline, pace, and ability to contribute in attack make him an ideal addition to the squad as the club looks to build a team capable of competing for the league title.
For Aziz, joining Hearts of Oak would represent one of the biggest moves of his career and provide an opportunity to play for one of Ghana’s most successful and decorated clubs. The defender believes a move to the Rainbow Club would enhance his development while increasing his chances of competing for trophies and earning further recognition at the national team level.
Despite Medeama’s late push to hijack the transfer, Hearts of Oak remain in a strong position, largely due to the player’s desire to wear the famous rainbow colours. Unless there is a dramatic change in negotiations, the Accra giants are expected to remain favourites to secure Abdul Aziz’s signature before the close of the transfer window.
