Ghanaian defender Nathaniel Adjie’s transfer race has taken a new twist, with Strasbourg, Sunderland, Hull City and FC Copenhagen now the four clubs formally pursuing the Ghanaian defender in the ongoing summer transfer window.
As earlier reported, Adjei’s representatives had informed interested clubs that teams from Spain were closely monitoring the centre-back. However, sources close to the player now say that interest has since faded, leaving Strasbourg, Sunderland, Hull City and FC Copenhagen as the clubs actively working on a potential move.
Hull City have already made initial contact, although discussions remain at an early stage, while the other three clubs continue to monitor the situation as they weigh up their next steps.
Despite the growing interest, FC Lorient are reluctant to sanction a sale. New head coach Alexandre Dujeux has been impressed by Adjei during pre-season and considers the 23-year-old an important part of his plans for the upcoming campaign.
Footy-Africa in a separate report, stated that the Ghanaian international is open to a new challenge if the right project materialises, with his representatives assessing the interest from the four clubs.
Adjei joined Lorient on a permanent deal in 2024 and has two years remaining on his contract. After recovering from a serious injury that disrupted the early part of his spell in France, he enjoyed an impressive 2025-26 season, establishing himself as one of the club’s most dependable defenders.
While Lorient’s preference is to retain him, interest is expected to intensify in the coming weeks as the four clubs consider whether to formalise their interest with offers before the transfer window closes.
