Ghanaian defender Hafiz Gariba scored for Barca Atletic in the final of the Copa Catalunya but it was not enough as the Spanish giants fell to CE Sabadell.
The lanky centre-back pounced on a lose ball in Sabadell’s box to level for the Catalans in the second half, having gone down early through a Niko Gioacchini header. A late goal from Rahmani sealed victory for Sabadell.
Meanwhile, Barcelona were handed a huge blow after summer signing Jesse Bisiwu, who is Ghanaian-Belgian, suffered injury early in the match.
In a very competitive match at the Nova Creu Alta stadium, Barca Atletic got off to a slow start when Giochinni rose high to head home from a Miki Cordina corner.
Moments later the Blaugranas seized control of the match with Ghanaian winger Aziz Issah forcing a terrific save from Sabadell goalie Diego Fuoli.
Bisiwu then made way for Shane Kluivert due to an injury, which saw him stretched off before later he was spotted with clutches. The summer signing with Ghanaian heritage is expected to undergo a test later on Tuesday to determine the extent of his injury.
However, after the break, Barca Atletic responded following a scrappy cross in the box with Gariba the quickest to react.
Barca Atletic dominated the match and should have taken the lead through Álex González, but the forward missed.
And with three minutes remaining, Rahmani headed home from a corner kick to hand Sabadell victory and the glittering trophy.
