Jordan Ayew says he did not hesitate to accept the opportunity to join Sheffield United and is determined to make a strong contribution to the English Championship side.
The Black Stars captain completed his move to Sheffield United on a one-year contract after leaving Leicester City as a free agent.
Ayew says the transfer came together very quickly after he was contacted by Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder. Despite the short period involved in the discussions, the experienced forward says he was convinced the move was the right opportunity and decided to accept it without hesitation.
“To be fair, the deal happened really quick. I didn’t think twice about it and just took the opportunity.”
Ayew says the approach from the club came at a time when he was considering his next career move, and the willingness of the manager and the club to secure his services made the decision easier.
The 34-year-old forward is expected to bring considerable experience to Sheffield United, having spent much of his career playing at the highest level in both England and France.
He has previously featured for Marseille, Sochaux, Lorient, Aston Villa, Swansea City, Crystal Palace and Leicester City, giving him extensive experience across different attacking positions.
His arrival also gives Sheffield United an experienced option in attack as the club looks to strengthen its squad.
Ayew says he is pleased with the way the club handled the move and is looking forward to getting started with his new teammates.
The Ghana captain is expected to begin work with the Sheffield United squad immediately as he prepares for the next chapter of his career in English football.
