Karela United produced a strong second-half performance to come from behind and defeat Bechem United 3-1, securing their first victory of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season in Tamale.
Bechem United made the brighter start and took the lead in the 22nd minute through Kelvin Appiah, whose powerful strike gave the visitors an early advantage.
Karela United struggled to find a way through a well-organised Bechem defence in the opening stages, despite coming close through Iddi Mahfuz.
The home side eventually found their breakthrough just before halftime when Mohammed Zaidan restored parity to send the two teams into the break level.
Karela returned from the interval with greater attacking intent and quickly began putting pressure on the Bechem defence.
The hosts thought they deserved a penalty after Wisdom Jonas went down inside the box, but the referee waved play on.
Jonas, however, soon had his reward when he connected with a cross midway through the second half to put Karela United ahead.
Bechem United tried to respond, but Karela remained dangerous and continued to create opportunities.
The hosts eventually sealed the victory late in the game when substitute Joseph Bekoe produced a superb free-kick finish to make it 3-1.
The comeback gave Karela United their first three points of the campaign after a difficult opening-weekend trip to Samreboi.
The result will provide a major boost to the team as they look to build momentum in the early stages of the Premier League season.
