Ghanaian striker Kwasi Okyere Wriedt was on the scoresheet for TSV Havelse, but his effort was not enough as the German side suffered a 3-1 home defeat to Fortuna Köln in the 3. Liga.
Fortuna Köln took the lead in the 39th minute through Bennit Bröger, who finished from close range after a good attacking move involving Romeo Aigbekaen.
Havelse went into the break trailing by a goal but returned from the interval with greater attacking purpose as they looked for a way back into the contest.
Wriedt provided the breakthrough in the 67th minute, scoring with a header from inside the penalty area after being picked out by Alexander Guiddir. His goal brought Havelse level at 1-1 and gave the home side renewed confidence.
The Ghanaian striker and his teammates continued pushing for a second goal, with Havelse appearing to have the momentum during the latter stages of the match.
However, Fortuna Köln punished the hosts in the 83rd minute when substitute Jannik Mause restored the visitors’ advantage.
Havelse were unable to respond before Fortuna Köln struck again in the second minute of added time. Enzo Wirtz headed home to complete the 3-1 victory for the visitors.
The defeat leaves Havelse without a win in their last four league matches, with the team recording one draw and three defeats during that run. After seven matches, they have collected four points.
Despite the disappointing result, Wriedt’s goal represents another important contribution from the experienced Ghanaian forward as Havelse continue their campaign in Germany’s third tier.
