FC Ashantigold head coach Abdul Karim Zito has acknowledged that his team will face a difficult test when they travel to Kpando to play Heart of Lions in Week Five of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
The match is scheduled to take place at the Kpando Sports Stadium, with kick-off set for 15:00 GMT, as both clubs seek to build on their victories from the previous round of matches.
Zito is aware of the difficulty of playing Heart of Lions on their home ground but remains hopeful that his side can secure a positive result from the encounter.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, the Ashantigold trainer said his team was preparing for the different challenges the home side could present, while expressing confidence in their ability to compete.
“We are preparing for the good and bad side of Heart of Lions. It’s not easy to beat them at home, even though I have done it before with Dreams FC. We are ready to go there at least to get a point, if not to win,” Zito told FC Ashantigold TV.
His comments reflect the respect he has for Heart of Lions, particularly given their performances at the Kpando Sports Stadium. However, the coach believes his players can rise to the occasion and return to Kumasi with at least a point.
FC Ashantigold head into Sunday’s encounter on the back of a 2-1 victory over Debibi United in their previous league match. The win is expected to provide the team with added confidence ahead of the difficult away fixture.
Heart of Lions will also be motivated after recording a victory over Young Apostles in their last outing. The hosts will be looking to take advantage of playing in front of their supporters to secure another important result.
With both sides coming into the game after winning their previous matches, Sunday’s contest is expected to be competitive as they seek to maintain their momentum in the league.
For Zito and his players, the immediate objective will be to overcome the challenge posed by Heart of Lions and return from Kpando with points to strengthen their position in the ongoing campaign.
