Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has unveiled his squad for Ghana’s campaign in the African qualifiers for the women’s football tournament at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, with Mukarama Abdulai among the notable returnees.
Ghana will face Mauritius in the second round of the qualifying campaign as the Black Queens begin their quest to secure a place at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The squad features a blend of experienced players, foreign-based talents and locally based footballers expected to contribute to Ghana’s qualification ambitions.
Among the players named are Cynthia Konlan Fiindib of Samartex Ladies, Afi Amenyeku of FK Apollonia, Rose Teye Baah of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Benedicte Simon of Servette FC and Comfort Yeboah of Logroño United.
Other players selected include Josephine Bonsu of BSC Young Boys Frauen, Rabiatu Maltiti of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Portia Boakye of Pumas Femenil, Margaret Agyapomaa of Police Ladies, Susan Ama Duah of Club Tigres Femenil, Diana Amoako of Ampem Darkoa Ladies and Grace Asantewaa of Club Tigres Femenil.
The remaining selections are Jennifer Cudjoe of Brooklyn FC, Helen Alormenu of Texas State University, Nancy Amoh of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Evelyn Badu of Montreal Roses, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah of Nottingham Forest, Sharon Sampson of Hibernian FC, Princella Adubea of Yüksekova, Alice Kusi, Stella Nyamekye of FK Brann, Mukarama Abdulai of Ünye Kadın and Ajegipina Zakaria of Al Qadsiah, alongside Abigail Kofi Kim of Trabzonspor.
The selection brings together players with experience in different football environments, giving the technical team options as Ghana prepares for the crucial qualifying encounter against Mauritius.
The Black Queens will be aiming to negotiate the second round successfully and move a step closer to qualifying for the women’s football competition at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
