Ghanaian forward Mathew Anim Cudjoe has opened his goal-scoring account for the season after finding the back of the net in Bnei Sakhnin’s 2-0 victory over Hapoel Petah Tikva in the Israeli top flight on Saturday.
The 22-year-old attacker delivered an important contribution to Sakhnin’s victory, producing a composed finish inside the penalty area to strengthen his side’s position in the encounter.
Cudjoe found the net after defender Leeroy Owusu delivered a well-timed pass from the right. The defender picked out the forward inside the box, allowing him to roll a low shot beyond the goalkeeper and register his first goal of the campaign.
The finish highlighted Cudjoe’s ability to make effective use of opportunities in dangerous areas, as he demonstrated composure and good attacking instincts in front of goal.
The Ghanaian youngster’s goal came as a significant boost for Bnei Sakhnin, who were determined to secure all three points against Hapoel Petah Tikva. His contribution helped the team complete a convincing performance and maintain a clean sheet.
Sakhnin had already established the advantage in the 30th minute when Ahmad Salman found the back of the net. The early breakthrough gave the home side a platform to control the contest and put pressure on their opponents.
Cudjoe’s second-half contribution, as reflected in the match report, ensured that Sakhnin strengthened their advantage and moved closer to a comfortable victory. The team’s defensive organisation also proved important, as they prevented Hapoel Petah Tikva from scoring throughout the match.
For Cudjoe, the goal represents an encouraging development as he continues to establish himself in Israeli football. Opening his account for the season could provide the confidence needed to build greater consistency in the attacking third and make further contributions to his team’s campaign.
The former Ghana youth international has been working to make an impact since joining Bnei Sakhnin, and his involvement in the victory offers another opportunity to demonstrate his qualities at senior level.
His ability to operate in attacking positions, combine with teammates and take advantage of opportunities inside the penalty area could prove valuable as the season progresses. Consistent performances will be important if he is to increase his influence within the squad and attract further attention through his displays.
Cudjoe was making his seventh appearance in the Israeli Ligat ha’Al when he scored against Hapoel Petah Tikva. The goal therefore marks an important personal milestone, as he turns his appearances into a tangible contribution on the scoresheet.
The victory also provides encouragement for Bnei Sakhnin as they seek to build momentum in the Israeli top flight. Securing three points while keeping a clean sheet reflects a strong collective performance, with the goals from Salman and Cudjoe proving decisive.
For Ghanaian football followers, Cudjoe’s latest performance will be welcome news as they continue to monitor the progress of the country’s young talents competing abroad. His development in Israel could offer him an opportunity to strengthen his reputation and push for greater recognition through regular club football.
Although one goal does not determine the course of an entire season, scoring in a winning performance can provide an important foundation for an attacking player. Cudjoe will now hope to build on the achievement, maintain his place in the team and contribute more goals and assists in the matches ahead.
With his first goal of the campaign secured, the focus will be on whether the Ghanaian forward can turn the breakthrough into a consistent run of performances for Bnei Sakhnin.
