Asante Kotoko have reportedly begun discussions with representatives of former Hearts of Oak coach Costa Papic as the club intensifies efforts to appoint a new head coach.
The Porcupine Warriors are searching for a substantive manager following the departure of South African tactician Eric Tinkler, who left the club after just a few matches into the season to join Durban City.
Kotoko are understood to be considering several candidates to fill the vacant position, with the experienced Serbian coach emerging as one of the names being considered for the job.
However, the Kumasi-based club have yet to reach an agreement with any of the candidates as they continue their search for a permanent replacement.
Papic is familiar with Ghanaian football, having managed Hearts of Oak on two occasions. His first spell with the Phobians lasted from 2007 to 2009 before he returned to the club for a second stint during the 2020/2021 season.
His previous experience in the Ghana Premier League could make him a candidate of interest to Kotoko as the club seeks to strengthen its technical direction and improve its performances in the ongoing campaign.
The Porcupine Warriors have endured an inconsistent start to the 2026/2027 Ghana Premier League season, recording three wins, two draws and two defeats in their opening seven matches.
The results have left the record Ghana Premier League champions with 11 points, placing them eighth on the league table after seven games.
Kotoko will be hoping to settle on a new head coach soon as they look to regain consistency and improve their position in the league.
Although discussions with Papic’s representatives have reportedly begun, it remains unclear whether the two parties will reach an agreement, with the club yet to make an official announcement regarding its next managerial appointment.
