Ghanaian forward Felix Afena-Gyan returned to the scoresheet in decisive fashion after scoring the winning goal in Igdir FK’s 2-1 victory over Bandirmaspor.
The former AS Roma attacker proved crucial for his Turkish side, finding the back of the net to help Igdir FK secure all three points in a closely contested encounter.
Afena-Gyan’s goal is particularly significant as it marks his first since scoring a superb free-kick for the Black Stars against Gambia, bringing an end to his wait for another goal since that memorable international contribution.
The Ghanaian forward has been working to regain his scoring touch at club level, and his latest strike will provide a timely boost to his confidence as he continues his campaign in Turkey.
His decisive contribution against Bandirmaspor also underlines his ability to make an impact in important moments, with the goal ultimately helping Igdir FK emerge victorious.
For Afena-Gyan, the strike represents an encouraging development as he seeks to build consistency and establish himself as a regular attacking threat for his club.
The forward rose to prominence during his time at AS Roma, where he made headlines after scoring twice against Genoa in Serie A in November 2021. His performances at the Italian club earned him opportunities with Ghana’s senior national team.
He has since continued his professional career abroad, seeking regular playing time and opportunities to develop his game.
His latest goal will be welcomed by Ghanaian football supporters, who will be hoping the forward can carry his scoring form into subsequent matches and continue making valuable contributions at club level.
With the winning strike against Bandirmaspor, Afena-Gyan will now aim to build on this performance, rediscover sustained goal-scoring consistency and strengthen his prospects of earning further opportunities with the Black Stars.
