Impressive Accra Hearts of Oak posted a 3-2 win over fellow Premiership side Liberty Professionals on Wednesday at the Pobiman Sports Complex.
Coach Kim Grant’s side before the half-hour mark, were two goals, thanks to youngster Manaf Gumah’s brace.
Gumah opened the score for the Phobians with a superb finish on the 23rd minute after beating goalkeeper Kofi Baah completely in the 18-yard box.
He extended the lead for the home side with another cool strike on the 27th minute of the game.
Hearts of Oak continued to dominate the game as Obeng Kwadwo Junior made it 3-0 before Ghana U20 star Elvis Kyei Baffour pulled one back for Liberty Professionals.
The first half ended in a 3-1 victory in favor of the Phobians.
James Sewornu, Sumaila Ibrahim and Robert Addo replaced Raddy Ovouka, Mohammed Alhassan and Christopher Bonney respectively after the break.
Seven minutes after recess, Richard Donsu got his name registered on the score sheet for the Dansoman-based club.
Newly-signed Kofi Kordzi could have scored for Hearts but his strikes in the early minutes of the second half went wide.
Former Auroras captain Michelle Sarpong audacious shot in the dying embers of the match was saved by the woodwork as the match ended in a 3-2 win for Hearts of Oak.
Hearts of Oak will face Dreams FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
