Over one hundred Ghanaian footballers have been sent home after failing to make Karim Zito’s preliminary selection into the Ghana national U-20 men’s team but they were not given any transportation fares as the dejected players left Prampram on Sunday evening amidst Covid-19, SPORTSWorldGhana.com can authoritatively report.
Ghana has began preparations for WAFU ‘B’ U-20 qualification tournament to be staged in Togo later this year.
Coach Zito and his assistant Evans Augustine Adotey oversaw the pre-selection exercise and according to SPORTSWorldGhana sources, some forty-five players have been provisionally retained ahead of the next phase of the preparations.
The invited players were divided into two groups( 70 players in each group) to ensure that all players identified for the pre-selection process undergo the mandatory COVID-19 testing which would be conducted twice at the GFA Technical centre.
After some two weeks of training , Zito and his technical staff made the big announcement to the whole contingents on Sunday and immediately the unfortunate ones were asked to leave camp without receiving even the least of handshake in the form of transportation fare.
The GFA is meanwhile expected to announce the full list of all the pre-selected players in the coming days.
