Belgian outfit KAA Gent will play an exhibition game on Monday, October 26 for veteran Ghanaian defender Nana Asare as they finally say goodbye to him after seven years.
The match in honour of Asare will be between Gent and Beerschot and it would precede their home league game against Genk at the Ghelamco Arena.
Asare who was the skipper of Gent before voluntarily handing the band to Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe last season had his contract terminated through mutual agreement three weeks ago as he seems not to be in the plans of manager Wim De Decker.
The experienced defender played a total of 272 official matches for Gent scoring four goals and providing 16 assists. He was voted by the club’s fans in June this year as their best left-back in the last decade.
SPORTSworldGhana.com understands that Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia and a host of teams in the Gulf region have already inquired about him whilst a move to the Belgian second tier is also possible.
