German-born Ghanaian defender Jan Gyamerah is okay with Hamburg’s hard-fought victory over Eintracht Braunschweig in the first round of the DFB Pokal.
The 26-year-old netted the opener for Hamburg but the Bundesliga II side with held by their opponents before the break.
However, Hamburg were made to work hard for victory in the second half as Robert Glatzel scored with 20 minutes left.
“Braunschweig put in a strong performance with their fans behind them, so it was a difficult game for us. After it went 1:0 we let up a bit and then conceded the equalizer just before the break. At halftime, we discussed that we wanted to be more active ourselves now. In the end, we triumphed with Robert’s goal,” he said after the game.
“Braunschweig threw themselves into every ball and every tackle,” added the Ghanaian defender.
Jan Gyamerah was also named Man of the Match following his impressive display in the game.
