Arsenal star Thomas Partey and UK-based Ghanaian players will be available for the Black Stars match against Zimbabwe in Harare this month.
The Ghanaian contingent in the UK include Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, Andy Yiadom, Baba Rahman and Daniel Amartey.
Sportsworldghana.com can confirm that all these players will travel to Zimbabwe for the match after English clubs decided to allow their players to travel to COVID-19 red-list countries.
Ghana was on the verge of losing all these lads in the Black Stars important Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Warriors because Zimbabwe are on UK red-list and in the last international window, clubs blocked their players from travelling to such countries.
But the good news coming from today is that, the players would be allowed to join the Stars trip to Harare for the game on October 12.
Nonetheless, the Ghanaian players have been informed to adhere to a strict code of conduct regarding transport, close contacts, testing and bubbles.
Despite the approval by the English clubs, the players will be quarantine in “bespoke facilities” for 10 days upon their arrival back in the UK.
Whiles quarantined, the Ghanaian players would be allowed to train once a day.
“We have worked closely with football authorities to achieve an outcome that balances the interests of both club and country while maintaining the highest levels of public health and safety,” said a government spokesperson.
“Our best defence against the virus is vaccination and these new measures will allow fully vaccinated players to fulfil their international duties in the safest, most practical way possible, while allowing them to train and play with their clubs as early as possible upon their return.”
During the last international break in September, Ghana was hit hard by the English clubs’ decision as several key players did not show up for the South Africa match in Johannesburg.
Ghana will play Zimbabwe on the 9th and 12th respectively this month in the qualifiers for next year’s World Cup.
