German-born Ghanaian attacker Aaron Opoku found the net on Saturday afternoon, but his effort could not rescue Eintracht Braunschweig from a 2-1 defeat against SV Elversberg in the German Bundesliga 2.
The closely contested encounter took place at the URSAPHARM-Arena an der Kaiserlinde, where the hosts made a blistering start. Bulgaria international Lukas Petkov struck as early as the fifth minute before doubling Elversberg’s advantage in the 23rd minute to put the home side firmly in control.
Braunschweig responded before the half-hour mark, with Opoku pulling one back in the 35th minute after being teed up by Johan Gomez. The 26-year-old, who joined the club in February 2026, delivered an impressive display and was among Braunschweig’s standout performers before being substituted in the 61st minute.
Despite their improved showing after the break, the visitors were unable to find an equaliser, as Elversberg held on to secure all three points.
Since his arrival, Opoku has featured three times in , registering his first goal for the club during that spell.
