Rising Ghanaian talent Abdul Aziz Issah took a major step in his career by making his senior national team debut during Ghana’s emphatic 4-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago in the third-place match of the 2025 Unity Cup.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who currently plays for Barcelona B, came on in the 66th minute to replace fellow debutant Lawrence Agyekum at the G-Tech Stadium in Brentford, West London.
Issah’s first appearance for the Black Stars caps off a remarkable year, having impressed in the CAF Confederation Cup with Dreams FC and played a key role in Ghana’s U-20 gold medal triumph at the 2023 African Games. His call-up by head coach Otto Addo reflects the team’s growing focus on nurturing young talent for the future.
Ghana delivered a dominant performance in the match, bouncing back from their semi-final defeat to Nigeria. Goals from captain Jordan Ayew and debutants Razak Simpson, Mohammed Fuseini, and Lawrence Agyekum secured a comprehensive victory for the four-time African champions.
Issah’s debut is a promising sign of what lies ahead, as he continues to build a name for himself both at club level and now on the international stage.
