Black Stars ‘B’ striker Prince Opoku Agyemang has described former Ghana and Olympique de Marseille superstar Abedi Pele as his idol.
According to the New Edubiase United attacker, Pele is someone he draws inspirations from as a player and that he models his game on that of the three-times African Footballer of the year.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with SportsworldGhana.com from the Black Stars camp ahead of the 2019 Wafu championship, Opoku revealed Abedi Pele is his No.1 motivator and wants to emulate the historic success he chalked during his playing days.
”Abedi Pele Ayew is by role model, when I was even a kid playing football at Adum in Kumasi, my colleagues named me Abedi Pele and so since then I have always love him and made him my biggest Idol,”
”I really want to be like him {Abedi Pele}, like three times African best player, yes I want to be like him,” added the striker who has been hailed by Coach Maxwell Konadu for his impressive shooting accuracy and scoring credentials.
Opoku Agyemang, made his debut for the Black Stars B on Sunday after coming on as substitute to replace captain Shafiu Mumuni in their 1-0 loss to Burkinfa Faso in the 2020 CHAN qualifiers first leg.
The former Asante Kotoko youth player, scored an incredible 8 goals in 12 matches with 5 assists for Edubise United in the Zone two National Division One League before the league was truncated after the Anas’ ‘Number 12’ expose.
He would be hoping to replicate his fine scoring form with Maxwell Konadu’s side when the 2019 WAFU Chmapionship starts in Senegal later this month.
