AFC Wimbledon striker Kwesi Appiah says he’s ”honoured” to finally make a return to the Black Stars after being out of the team for four years.
Appiah, 28, has been included in coach Kwesi Appiah’s 24-man squad for the final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya in Accra on March 23.
The English-born Ghanaian international was invited into the team by former Ghana coach Avram Grant for the 2015 Afcon, where he excelled at the tournament after making four appearances and scoring a goal as Ghana finished second.
He has since then been overlooked largely due to recurring injuries.
However, Kwasi Appiah has handed his invitation to justify his form against Kenya as he prepares to name a fearsome team capable of winning the 2019 AFCON in Egypt in June this year.
The striker who could not hide his joy after receiving a call-up for the Kenyan game took to twitter to express his happiness.
”Honoured to receive the call up! ”
”#Blackstars “If god is for us, who can be against us” Romans 8:31. #Blessed#Afcon2019.” Appiah wrote
