Ghana coach, Otto Addo, has acknowledged that his side faces a daunting task in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, with a tough encounter against Sudan on the horizon.
BLACK STARS PAIRED WITH SUDAN AND ANGOLA IN GROUP F
The Black Stars have been drawn alongside Sudan, Angola, and Niger in Group F of the AFCON qualifiers.
Speaking to the Ghana FA website, Addo praised Sudan’s impressive form under the guidance of former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah, who has led them to the top of their group in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
SUDAN’S RISE UNDER APPIAH
Addo acknowledged that Sudan is not an easy opponent, citing their impressive performances in the World Cup qualifiers. “They are really, really doing well at the moment with Kwesi Appiah, which I know personally,” he said.
“He is a very good coach. They are not a known squad but like I said, they are doing really, really good at the moment in the World Cup qualification games, very, very tough to beat.”
GHANA READY FOR THE CHALLENGE
Despite acknowledging the difficulty of the task ahead, Addo remains confident of his team’s ability to overcome Sudan. “It’s going to be a really big challenge to beat them and for this, we have to be at 100% best,” he said.
“It’s going to be a really big challenge to beat them and for this, we have to be at 100% best. But I am excited to play against them, and like I said it’s going to be tough. It’s not easy but we have a strong team and we surely can beat them, this is for sure,” he added.
The AFCON qualifiers are set to kick off in September this year, with Ghana aiming to make a strong start to their campaign and overcome the challenges posed by their opponents in Group F.
