Managing Director of Green Grass Technology (GGT) Frank Boahene, has revealed that players injuries in the ongoing AFCON 2017 tournament is down to the bad nature of pitches used.
About 5 outfield players including Ghana’s Baba Rahman have been injured in the African elite competition.
On Wednesday Group A fixture between host Gabon and Burkina Faso 4 players got injured after landing awkwardly.
On the 11th minute Burkina Faso coach Paulo Duarte made a force substitution for Nakoulma to replace injured Pitriopa.
Gabon also lost fullback Johann Obiang in the first half .
“Watching the games from afar, the knee joint,ankle and hamstring injuries can be as a cause of the nature of the pitch,”the Pitch expert,told Radio VISA.
“The new pitches seems not to be well developed,so during games the deep rotted grass comes out from the ground.”
“I will advise the pitch managers to water the pitches few minutes to kickoff and at half time 15 minutes interval to make sure the pitch is safe for footballers and also players should watch the kind of football boots they wear.”
2017 AFCON have proved to be competitive amidst injury scare.
