Lower-tier Ghanaian side Afigya Liberty has reportedly requested a 25 percent onward transfer fee from Asante Kotoko SC following the transfer of winger Bernard Somuah to Spanish club RC Celta de Vigo.
The claim is believed to be based on an agreement reached when Somuah initially moved from Afigya Liberty to Kotoko, which allegedly included a sell-on clause entitling the lower-tier club to a percentage of any future transfer involving the player.
Officials at Afigya Liberty reportedly insist that the clause guarantees them 25 percent of the transfer proceeds, and they are now seeking to ensure that the terms of the deal are honoured following the player’s move to Spain.
Somuah, who developed through the ranks at Afigya Liberty, impressed scouts with his pace and attacking ability before securing a move to Kotoko, where he quickly emerged as one of the club’s promising young talents.
The 19-year-old first joined RC Celta de Vigo on loan in 2024 and featured for the club’s reserve side, Celta Fortuna, before the Spanish outfit made the deal permanent in February 2026.
He has continued his progress in Spain and has scored five goals this season, further highlighting his potential.
While Afigya Liberty push for their share of the transfer, Asante Kotoko SC have yet to publicly comment on the situation, leaving uncertainty over whether discussions between the two clubs are ongoing regarding the payment of the alleged sell-on fee.
