#24 One qualifier outstanding: Benin or Sierra Leone
After the final Group L game between Benin and Sierra Leone was postponed due to the former side refusing to accept their positive coronavirus test results, one of the 24 qualifiers remains outstanding.
If the match is played, then Benin need to avoid defeat in order to qualify.
However, if Caf decide that – due to Benin refusing to accept the test results – the match will be awarded in Sierra Leone’s favour, then the resulting 2-0 home win would be enough to take the Leone Stars through.
#23 Equatorial Guinea
Victories in Malabo against Libya and Tanzania ensure Equatorial Guinea will play at the Nations Cup for the first time in a tournament that they’re not hosting.
However, it was their 3-2 victory in Libya last year that really offers some hope that they can do more than just make up the numbers.
